Latest on the Food Scene

Firstly, Happy 2nd Birthday to Cataract on Paterson! On Thursday night, celebrations took place together with the launch of "Giving Back" - a marvellous initiative in helping out the local community. Karen Burbury and her dedicated Team at Cataract on Paterson, have raised over $50,000 in the past 2 years and are committed to this worthy cause. And of course, the food was amazing. Canapés were served - delicious morsels of goodness - followed by the Cataract on Paterson birthday cake. Yum. Some of us long stayers indulged later at the bar & enjoyed an amazing platter of oysters - including the obligatory Bloody Mary. A plate of Crispy Squid on the side was the perfect accompaniment for the three of us to graze on.

The Muffin Kitchen is no longer open, in Coulter Court. Baker's Dozen has closed down all its coffee shops in Launceston - they're hoping to reopen when issues are sorted out. Buntalk, an extremely popular little café serving up all types of Chinese delicacies, have closed their doors at their Charles St. location. Apparently they are opening up elsewhere, in ln a bigger & brighter place, but thus far I haven't been able to find out where. Stay tuned :) Terry Fidler at Brisbane Street Menu has released his new spring menu which looks terribly inviting & delicious. Will check out some of the new additions soon & post some pics. which will certainly get your mouth watering.

Baker's Lane have a great new menu, with plenty of variety & healthy choices. Had the most amazing superfood salad there last week ($15), with the optional extra of squid or roast chicken (I chose squid), and it was absolutely amazing! Certainly my lunch of the week.
