New Year on Royal - 2014
Celebrate New Year’s Eve on the banks of the Tamar River at Royal Park, as Festivale presents New Year on Royal, on Wednesday December 31.
Festivities commence from 5.30pm with an event line-up of local acts including Laura Pendergast, S&M, Wellstrung and Reuben Koops.
Well known Tasmanian band, Pete Cornelius and The Devilles will headline New Year on Royal.
There will be two fireworks displays at 9:30pm and midnight.
Free and fun activities for the kids run from 5.30pm to 9pm.
Patrons can purchase food, wine, beer and cider.
Patrons can also BYO picnic (soft chiller bags only).
Gates will open from 5.30pm. The event is ticketed and licensed.
Ticket Prices
Adults $15
Junior (12-17 years) $7.50
Under 12 FOC (when accompanied by an adult)
Family $35 (2 adults and up to 3 juniors) pre-sale only price from the Launceston Travel and Information Centre
Family $40 (2 adults and up to 3 juniors) at the gate
**Companion Card accepted **
Tickets can be purchased from the Launceston Travel and Information Centre.
Gate sales will be available on the night of the event.
What is permitted at New Year on Royal?
Bring your own picnic in a soft chiller bag, bottled water and soft drink (no glass bottles), soft chiller/cooler bags; fold up chairs, still cameras, mobile phones, personal umbrellas, picnic rugs, Festivale & New Year on Royal glasses
What is NOT permitted at New Year on Royal?
Soft drink or water in glass bottles, glassware, knives, shade structures & large umbrellas, alcohol, BBQ's & fire pots, tables, fireworks, animals (with the exception of assistance dogs), dangerous goods, weapons, bikes & skateboards, small and large hard eskies, drugs.
Entry Points
Park Street, boardwalk at Home Point, disabled/pram entry is via Park Street.
Pass Outs
Pass out stamps will be issued from the gates up until 11.15pm. No entry or pass outs after 11.15pm.
Getting There
Metro will operate $2 Night Rider services on New Year’s Eve. Nightrider services are a safe, convenient and affordable way for people to get to and from New Year’s Eve celebrations. A $2 cash fare applies for all Nightrider services and regular Metro services after 7pm on New Year’s Eve. Services operate through various suburbs until approximately 1:30am New Year’s Day.
Bus stops are located in Patterson St near the Park St entrance to Royal Park.

A taxi rank will operate from outside Tio Rico in Paterson Street opposite Launceston College from 9.30pm
Parking
Parking will be available in Paterson Street Car Park for a fee of $2 from Wednesday, 31 December 5.30pm until Thursday, 1 January, 12.30am.
There will be free parking available in the Launceston City Council Bathurst Street Car Park from 5.30pm.
Launceston City Council car park at the lower end of Park St will be closed for parking on Tuesday 30 December from 7am.
Park Street will be completely closed to all traffic and pedestrians on Wednesday, December 31 from 7am (including car park).
